Blue House is in Monopoli’s
medieval centro storico, a
stone’s throw from the castle
and beach. Built in 1000, the
house was completely renovated
in 2005, and now has air
conditioning, two modern
bathrooms and heating while
losing none of its original
charm.
Outside the house there is a
small (communal) courtyard. The
door opens into a large open
plan kitchen/livingroom with a
double sofa bed and room for
z-beds if preferred. The kitchen
area has a dishwasher, oven and
hobs and there is also a washing
machine. The bathroom on this
level has a shower, W.C and
bidet. There are no internal
stairs – the original steep
wooden ‘ladder’ stairs are still
there but can be closed of at
the top (or the hatch at the top
can be left open for
communication and the steps made
inaccessible at the bottom).
Upstairs there is a large, very
pretty, bedroom, and a further
bathroom. Above that there is a
roof terrace with outdoor
furniture and a barbecue.
